Addition of Clopidogrel to Aspirin and Fibrinolytic Therapy for Myocardial
Infarction with ST-Segment Elevation
- Conclusions
In patients 75 years of age or younger who have myocardial infarction with
ST-segment elevation and who receive aspirin and a standard fibrinolytic
regimen, the addition of clopidogrel improves the patency rate of the
infarct-related artery and reduces ischemic complications.

Amiodarone versus Sotalol for Atrial Fibrillation
- Conclusions Amiodarone and sotalol are equally efficacious in converting
atrial fibrillation to sinus rhythm. Amiodarone is superior for maintaining
sinus rhythm, but both drugs have similar efficacy in patients with ischemic
heart disease. Sustained sinus rhythm is associated with an improved quality
of life and improved exercise performance.

Single-Chamber versus Dual-Chamber Pacing for High-Grade Atrioventricular Block
- Conclusions In elderly patients with high-grade atrioventricular block,
the pacing mode does not influence the rate of death from all causes during
the first five years or the incidence of cardiovascular events during the
first three years after implantation of a pacemaker.
